Dana Dale Whitson was born in Snyder, Texas on August 21, 1940.  Dana passed away peacefully on September 22, 2016. Dana married Lewis Whitson on August 25, 1960 in Snyder, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hardy and Coy Scarborough of Snyder, Texas. Dana is survived by siblings -  Daphne Harrison, Denver City, Texas, Hollis Scarborough, Houston, Texas, and Reginald Scarborough, Weatherford, TX. She was preceded in death by Mary Edith Greene, San Francisco. Lewis and Dana have two sons -  Brent Whitson and wife, Lisa of Dallas, Texas and Michael Whitson and wife, Susan of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Five grandsons include Tanner, Dustin, Carter, Derek, and Blake Great grand-daughters include McKenlee Whitson and Jordan Whitson. Dana received her Bachelor of Science in Education from North Texas State University and her Masters of Education from East Central University.Dana was an elementary teacher for 45 years during which time she was awarded Teacher of the Year and served as President of the Ada Teachers Association.  Dana taught in several communities in both Oklahoma and Texas including Denton, TX, Cisco, TX, Ada, OK, Ardmore, OK, Weatherford TX, and Shawnee, OK. Dana loved music was a musician.  She loved to sing and was a pianist.  She sang in the choir and led children’s choir as well.  Dana also coordinated numerous weddings at First Baptist Church, Ada, OK. Mostly, Dana was a committed wife, mother and grandmother. She was the biggest fan for whatever team Lewis was coaching and the team her boys (or grandsons) played for. She was also the epitome of what a coach’s spouse should be. Funeral arrangements will be provided by Amy Stittsworth Funeral Home and services will be held at First Baptist Church of Ardmore, Oklahoma on Wednesday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m.
