            Eugene Donald Paulson, 59 years, 1 month and 1 day, left this earthly home for a better place on September 23, 2017. Eugene was born to Donald Alger Paulson and Eva Kathleen Aschinger Paulson on August 22, 1958 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll Iowa. Eugene was educated at Odebolt-Arthur High school in Odebolt Iowa. He entered the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and proudly served his country as a medic. Eugene Paulson retired from the Army after 20 years, having attained the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) on August 31, 1996.

            Eugene enjoyed his retirement years spending time with his step-daughter Sasha Suzuki, and her daughters Teagan and Erin. He liked target shooting, skeet shooting and traveling the country. Eugene studied and received a certificate as a deacon in the Lutheran denomination and served at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt Iowa.   

            A private family memorial is planned in November of this year at the National Cemetery located near Fort Sill, Oklahoma where Eugene will be interred with full military honors, as he wished. Eugene was preceded in death by his father Donald Paulson, and one brother, Daniel Paulson.

            Survivors include his mother, Eva Paulson of Ponca City Oklahoma, sister Deanna Choney and husband Chris of Ponca City Oklahoma, brother Donovan Paulson of Carrollton Illinois, and brother Roger Paulson of Manilla Iowa. Step-daughter Sasha Suzuki and her daughters, Teagan and Erin, of Kearney Nebraska, niece Katie Hampton-Wehunt and her son Gage, and nephew Kyle Hampton of Wichita Kansas. Eugene also left behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
