BLACKWELL — Jimmie Lee Newland, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at his home in Blackwell.
Jimmie was born July 30, 1933, the son of James Henry Newland and Mary Melissa Newland.
He worked at Turvey Packing Company, the City of Blackwell and Newland Window and Door, where he learned to be a lifetime carpenter and cabinet maker. He then retired from the Blackwell Zinc Smelter Company. After he retired he went to work as a custodian at Osler Clinic. He loved fishing, picking pecans and spending time with family and friends at Sunday dinner. He served as a governor of the Moose Lodge for two terms.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Barbara Jean Jefferson and Mary Hinman.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Newland; children, Mary Ewy, of Blackwell, Doug Newland, of Blackwell, Melanie Mazur, of Blackwell and Misti Adamson, of Shidler; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren on the way.
The family would like to thank Humanity Hospice for all the help and care he received.
A service was held at an earlier date. Arrangements were under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors, Enid.
