Funeral services for Joyce Lee Hindman, 70, Ponca City, will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in Central Baptist Church, Ponca City, with Pastor John Waterloo officiating.  Committal prayers and interment will follow in Blackwell Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service.  Viewing and visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Blackwell.
Joyce was born on February 5, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Doris Powell Cook, and passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2013 at her residence.
Joyce moved to Sun City, Kansas with her family when she was seven to the Moffett Ranch. She loved the country and considered the ranch to be one of her favorite places to be. She always enjoyed taking her family there to fish or just to enjoy the country. She was a cheerleader and loved all the sports especially basketball. She graduated in 1961 and moved to Medicine Lodge where she worked for the Ben Franklin dime store and Nixon men's wear. She married Gene Hindman on November 23, 1962 in Sun City Baptist Church. They lived in Scott City, Protection and then Medicine Lodge. During that time 3 children were born, Clint, Angel and Aaron. They were transferred to Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1973. In 1981 their nieces Revalee and Tiaunna permanently came into their family. She worked at several jobs cab driver, tag agent, remodeling houses. She went to Cosmetology school and later became an instructor. She owned several beauty shops and still has Visible Changes with Mary Toney being her operator and long time friend. She received her Associate Degree from NOC in 1992. She worked at the Blackwell Middle School as a assistant coach for several years and enjoyed being a part of the kids lives. In 1992 she started going to Hawaii coaching boys and girls basketball. One of her best friends and coaches, David Page and his 2 sons Brady and Keiton went with her several years and she enjoyed following all their games and loved the OSU team. She loved several sports over the years including softball, bowling, sking and golf. She made many friends and continued to keep in touch with all of them. She designed the plans for their new home and close friends Jim and Sharon Mann were there to help. She was always a joy to be around and brought much love and fun to her family and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mom, aunt, grandma and great grandma. Her steadfast faith in GOD and the love of family and friends kept her going when only a miracle could save her.  Joyce was a member of Central Baptist Church of Ponca City. Survivors include her husband, Gene of the residence; daughters, Angel and husband Mack  Moyer, Revalee Campbell, and Tiaunna and husband Jason Murray, all of Blackwell; sons, Clint and wife Denise  Hindman of Blackwell and Aaron and wife Amie  Hindman of Ponca City.  Nineteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; Brothers, Bob Cook of Blackwell, and Jack Cook of Wellington, Kansas; sisters, Pat Hart of Protection, Kansas and Elaine Nicholson of Blackwell; numerous nieces and nephews.  Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents.  The family has selected Central Baptist Church, Building Fund, as appropriate for memorial donations instead of flowers.
