Charlie Melvin Dugan, resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Ponca City at 87 years of age.
Charlie,was born February 1, 1931 to John Henry Dugan and Martha Amanda Coffelt Dugan at home near Red Rock, Oklahoma. He was raised in the Red Rock area.
Charlie met his future wife, Judie Row Baker while "dragging Grand" in Ponca City on February 8, 1967. They were married in Pawhuska, Oklahoma on August 4, 1967.
Charlie worked various jobs over the years until he went to work for Davenport House Moving for seventeen years. In 1976 he opened his own business, Dugans Welding and Backhoe Service south of Ponca City on "old" highway 177. In 1996 he moved his business to a new location north of town on highway 177. He retired in 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Judie Dugan of Ponca City, sons Chuck Baker and wife Tammy of Blackwell, Tracy Baker and wife Stephanie of Ponca City, and daughter Judi Jackson and husband Obbie "Buck" of Blackwell. Also 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Dugan, sisters Jennie Hughes, Josephine Lindsey, and brothers Albert "Chub" Dugan and Roy Dugan.
The family would like to thank Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Humanity Hospice for the wonderful care given to Charlie.
Cremation under the direction of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service of Enid. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Grandview Cemetery, Kaw City, Oklahoma with chaplain Garry Wilburn officiating. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
