Celebration of life services for Dean Lee Mallory, 90, Wakita, Oklahoma resident, will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wakita Methodist Church with Pastor Lisa Anderson officiating. Committal prayers and interment will be in the Wakita Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Dean was born February 14, 1928 to Aubrey and Esther Mallory at his grandparents farm near Dakoma, Oklahoma. When Dean was six, Aubrey and Esther moved their family to Arkansas, where Dean attended the first grade. the family returned to Wakita where Dean spent the remainder of his school years, and graduated from Wakita High School in 1946. Dean served three years in the United States Army. Two and a half of those years were spent in Japan during the Army Occupation after World War II. Dean married Katie Ellen Paul in 1955 and they had three children, Charla Michelle and Paul. They resided in Belle Plaine, Kansas from 1955 to 1997 during which Dean was active in city government serving three years as City Councilman and three years as Mayor. Dean worked in the aircraft industry at Boeing and Cessna and retired from Boeing in 1992. Dean and Katie moved back to Wakita in 1997. Dean passed away at his residence on January 7, 2019.
