Dorothy Almeda Fern (Logue) (McBrain) Littleton

 

         Dorothy Littleton passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, December 30th, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born May 13th, 1931 on a small farm south of Stroud, Oklahoma. She was the 9th of 10 children born to Jesse Christopher Logue and Bessie Jane (Finks) Logue.                            

She attended country school through the 7th grade and then was bussed to Stroud High School until she finished the 8th grade at which time she quit school to help with the farm. She moved with the family to Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1949 where she entered practical nurse training at the old Blackwell Regional Hospital on West College under the direction of the Felician Sisters until 1951. She worked as an LPN for 2 years at Cherokee Hospital until marrying Francis Junior McBrain August 15th, 1953. They moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1953 where she worked for 3 years at Wesley Hospital then 3 years at Boeing Aircraft before returning to Blackwell. They had started their family while in Wichita with the birth of their first child in 1958 and continued to grow their family to six children by the end of 1966. Dorothy became a stay at home mother to raise their children until all were in school before returning to work. They moved around north central Oklahoma for a while living in Garber, Wakita, Braman, Blackwell and Lamont until divorcing in 1974.  

            She married Marion Noah Littleton in 1975 and they made their home in Atoka, Oklahoma for a few years before returning to Blackwell where she worked as a LPN until her retirement. Dorothy had a kind, sweet soul, a sharp mind and a remarkable memory. She worked very hard and spent her life caring for and serving others and will be greatly missed.

            She is preceded in death by both of her parents, 4 brothers, James Robert Logue, Paul Logue, Oather Edgar Logue and Donald Page Logue, 5 sisters, Clella Mae (Logue) Sprueill, Sarah Edith (Logue) Powell, Geraldine (Logue) Vaughn, Lorene Lee (Logue) Poston and Marjorie Lavern (Logue) Cockrum, 1 daughter, Sherri Diane McBrain,  a granddaughter, Diana Lynn Gaither- McBrain and both husbands.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Sandra Dorene (McBrain) Foster of Sulphur, Louisiana, 4 sons, Craig Wayne McBrain of Blackwell, Kirk Warren McBrain of Sayre, Oklahoma, Bradley Keith McBrain of Blackwell, and Todd Alan McBrain also of Blackwell. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and their families

            Funeral services will be Friday, January 4th, 2019 at 10 A.M. at Church of Christ in Blackwell, Pastor Lanny Jobe will officiate, followed by burial at Eddy New Home Cemetery, located 7 ½ miles west on I-35 on State Highway 60, then 2 ½ miles north. Service is under the direction of Stittsworth Funeral Service of Enid, Oklahoma. Memories may be shared at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com
