Elsie John Obituary

Graveside services for Elsie John, 92, Enid resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma.  Celebration of life services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel.  Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
During a snowstorm in a cabin Elsie Louise Gertz was born to Rena and Arthur Gertz Sr December 14th 1925 in Brighton Colorado. Elsie married Ervin John Sr in Enid at the First Baptist Church on August 5 1943. Elsie kept up the homefront while Ervin served in World War II on ship. When he returned from his service they farmed in Okeene in which she enjoyed being a farmer and actively participated in running it. She lived her flowers and gardening. They owned John's Texaco and had a janitorial business in Fairview. She also worked at Saint Mary's Hospital in housekeeping. Elsie gained her wings May 24 2018 she is survived by her daughters Donna Manthey of Enid, Nancy and Richard couch of Enid, Connie and Ron Martin of Wellsville Kansas, son Ervin John Jr. of Crescent, son-in-law Marvin Teeter (Alece) of Enid, 11 grandchildren and their spouses, 18 great-grandchildren and one on the way, 7 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Ervin John Sr, daughter Alece Teeter, twin infant sons, son-in-law David Manthey, daughter-in-law Robbie John, granddaughter Suzanne Gibbs, grandson Carroll Nilson and her siblings.
