John Eugene Briix

Celebration of life services for John Eugene Briix,  72, Waukomis, will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in Oakwood Christian Church with Pastor Alan Seibel officiating.  Committal prayers and interment will be in Hennessey Cemetery under the  kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
John was born on February 4, 1946 in Enid, Oklahoma, the son of Fred Ernest and Betty Lee Miller Briix, and passed away suddenly on April 1 5, 2018 in Enid. John was raised in Lacey, Oklahoma, graduating from Lacey High School with the class of 1964. In his youth, John was an active member of Hennessey First Christian Church.  He worked on his family farm for many years, later graduating from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education.  John married Judy Kay Estes  in Weatherford on March 21, 1969.  John taught elementary education in Granite, Oklahoma, later moving to Waukomis where he taught elementary education.  John worked for Cox and Overstreet Construction, later owning his own carpet cleaning business “The Carpet Doctor”.  Prior to retirement, John worked for Lowes of Enid.  John was a member of Oakwood Christian Church, former member of OEA, Boy Scout Leader.  John loved hiking and camping in Colorado, enjoyed gardening. Survivors include John’s wife, Judy of the residence; sons, Jerry Briix of Waukomis; Corey and wife Kelly Briix of Enid; grandsons, Aaron, Ethan, Nate and Zane.  Brothers, Lee Briix of Oklahoma City and Don Briix of Edmond.  John was preceded in passing by his parents.  The family has selected Oakwood Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice as appropriate for memorial donations.  Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
