John McCaslin Obituary

Graveside services for John Lee McCaslin, 77, Enid, Oklahoma resident, will be held on  Tuesday, May 22, 2018  at 10:00 a.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Danville, Kansas, with Father Michael Peltzer serving as celebrant.  Arrangements are under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
John was born on August 12, 1940 in Wellington, Kansas, the son of Howard Eugene and Virginia Marcella Freeman McCaslin, and passed away peacefully on May 18, 2018 at his residence.  John attended grade school at the Immaculate Conception Grade School in Danville, Kansas and St. Patrick’s Grade School in Kingman, Kansas.  He graduated from Harper High School in Harper, Kansas and attended Trade School in Kansas City studying Diesel Mechanics.  After graduating from trade school, John went to work for Sumner County Highway Department, working as a mechanic on heavy equipment. John married Mary Lou Smithhisler on February 5,  1966 in Danville, Kansas.  He worked up to foreman of the shop.  Later, John went to work around the Danville and Argonia, Kansas area, remodeling houses where he did plumbing, heat and air, and all kinds of carpentry.  Eventually getting to work with an electrician that taught him.  John soon went out on his own as a self-employed electrician for ten years.  John worked for Cities Service Gas Company doing electrical work, moving to the plant in Drummond Oklahoma in 1980.  John retired in 1995 and started purchasing and rebuilding Ranger Pickups, as he could build and repair anything.  John was preceded in passing by his parents, son, Kenny McCaslin and brother-in-law’s, Ralph Green and Larry Smithhisler.  Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of the residence; son, Martin Wayne and wife Daphne; grandchildren, Misty Zupko and husband Steven, Nicolas McCaslin, and Tonina McCaslin; sister, Rose Green; brother, Tim McCaslin and wife Sherry, brother, Steve McCaslin and wife Pam; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Where ever you go, there you are.  Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com.
