Lela Ann (Metzner) Callaway

Lela Ann Callaway, 83 of Medford, Oklahoma was born on October 7, 1935 to George Metzner Sr. and Lottie Wiley Metzner in Hogshooter, Oklahoma.  She was the 5th of 3 girls and 3 boys.  In 1953, she married Donald Joseph Callaway and they were blessed with 3 children. They lived throughout Oklahoma and California, finally settling in Medford, Oklahoma. Lela was a hard worker all of her life, working as a factory worker, in banking, aircraft and farming, but her greatest joy was raising her three children and spending time with her family. She spent the last six years in Ponca City, Oklahoma living with her daughter and caretaker, Joyce Keller and family. 

Lela passed from this earth on Sunday, September 22, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Metzner, Jr., Vic Metzner and Ronnie Metzner, sisters, Jackie Pierce and Rosemary Flynn, son, Donald Joseph Callaway, Jr. and life partner of 36 years, Johnnie Bauer.  Lela leaves behind her son, Steven Callaway and his wife Patricia Callaway of League City, Texas and daughter, Joyce Keller and her husband John Keller of Ponca City, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 4200 Nowata Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Pastor Mike Scrivani of Highland Park Baptist Church, officiant.
