Funeral services for Lois Maude Sladek, 91, Cedar Vale, Kansas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 in the Floyd & Ann Holman Chapel, Medford, with (Minister) officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, North of Medford, under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Lois was born on August 14, 1926 in Wakita, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alvin Dumont and Lolita Holden Shafer, and passed away peacefully on September 1, 2017 at her residence. She was raised on the family farm in Wakita, and graduated from Wakita High School with the class of 1944. Lois attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva where she studied for her teaching credentials. She married Wesley Joseph Sladek on June 2, 1948 in Wakita. He preceded her in passing on July 28, 2009. Lois worked for a time as a teaching student but fulfilled her love as a farmer’s wife. She also worked twenty years at the Medford Nursing Home. Survivors include Daughter, Carol Sladek of the residence, close friend, Cynthia DeAnn Stout of the residence; grandchildren, Zachary Sladek, Tyler Sladek, and Taylor Castro; great-granddaughter, Natalie Sladek.
