Odis Lee Lawson was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on October 18, 1945. He was the son of the late George and Ossie Lawson. He departed from this life on May 6, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Odis attended and was baptized at an early age upon acceptance of Jesus Christ at St. John Baptist Church in Ponca City, OK under the leadership of the late Rev. J.P. Patterson.
Odis attended Attucks High School, Ponca City East Jr. High and went on to graduate in 1963 from Ponca City High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy. His ship The USS Kawishiwi A0146 was home ported in Pearl Harbor Hawaii. He made two trips to Vietnam during the war. He received a honorable discharge as BM3 in October 1966. After leaving the Navy he returned home and went to work for Conoco in 1967 in the Computer Operations Dept. In 2002 he retired from Conoco after 35 years as Operations supervisor.
Odis loved sports but his favorite was baseball. His hobbies included traveling and playing dominoes.
Odis Leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 30 years Phyllis M. Lawson, son Odis Lawson Jr. (O.J.), daughter Necole Hankerson, step children Marvel, Kenneth Jr, Lewis, Kennetha, Marquita. Along with many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents George and Ossie Lawson, Three brothers George Lawson Jr, Dexter Reed, and Odell “Butch” Lawson.
Odis will truly be missed. He had one written request down “Only thing I ask is my claim to fame is, I was one of the Original P.C. MOJO’s.
Home Going Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Carl Renfo Center 445 Fairview Ponca City, OK 74601 under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
