He worked several jobs, he and his brother Leland broke horses. Billy worked at a machine shop in Oklahoma City through High School. He was a gang boss for several oil companies, Mechanic for Exxon for 28 years, where he retired back home to Drumright. He was a man of many skills and talents, a carpenter, electrician, and a plumber. He could pour cement, paint, and mechanic.

He flipped houses before it was a thing. They went camping and fishing and hunting and water skiing from the beginning. He taught all the cousins to ski, and he built his own camper shell for his pickup 1954.

He used these skills working for Christian service Corp/Campers on Mission starting in 1977. Billy continued taking his vacation time to go build churches all over the United States. They built churches in every state in the continental United States except two. He and his wife also did Disaster Relief until 2012. They were part of the Lay Renewal ministry as well.

He played the guitar and sang. They did music ministry everywhere they camped, on every mission trip. After they moved, they joined a local group and played gospel music at nursing homes until he was 95

He taught his grandsons to hunt and fish and process the meat…making jerky was a favorite.

He was an avid gardener and gardened even this year. Riding on his lawn mower was how he gave out his instructions this past summer. They canned the produce from the garden, made jelly, pickles, salsa, relish etc. They also shared the produce with family and friends.

He was a beekeeper for years and passed that knowledge on to many. It even went international as he taught Aaron and Aaron took it to India to help pastors become self-sufficient.

He loved life and lived it to the fullest. They traveled extensively and shared the love of Christ and was still planting seeds of that love in the hospital at the end.  instead  of flowers, the family suggested memorial to Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief fund as appropriate for memorials.
