Chris Ascue Obituary

Celebration of Life services for Chris Dwayne Ascue, 70, Tonkawa resident will be held at 10 am on March 19th at the First Presbyterian Church in Tonkawa with Pastor William Wood officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Lunch will be served at Williams Construction, 306 E. North Ave., Tonkawa, OK 74653.

Chris was born on May 15, 1954, the son of Dwayne and Norma Lea Ascue. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, 2025 at his residence. He was raised and educated in Tonkawa, attending Tonkawa High School where he played football and was involved in track, specifically pole vaulting. He even held the school record for Pole Vaulting for many years. He graduated from Tonkawa High School with the class of 1972. Chris immediately joined the United States Marine Corps with Jay Jeffries on the buddy system. He served for two years. Chris came home and joined the Pipe Fitters Union and worked initially at Conoco. He then started traveling for the Pipe Fitters where he worked on two different power plants in California; Pismo Beach and Carlsbad. Chris loved living right on the beach. Later, Chris returned to Northern Oklahoma, where he lived on the family farm and worked as a welder at Conoco. He also worked for Williams Construction. Chris was passionate about the things he loved. He was a dedicated OU fan, he enjoyed watching Nascar and once he even drove a Nascar racecar. Chris also loved anything with an engine, including his beloved NOVA and several Harley Davidson motorcycles just to name a few. In retirement, Chris was able to fulfill his dream of traveling to Sturgis.

Chris was preceded in passing by his parents and his sister, Linda Williams. He is survived by his brother-in-law David Williams of Tonkawa; sister Joyce Campos and husband David Campos of Mesquite, TX; nephew Ty Williams and wife Natalie Williams of Tonkawa, OK; nephew Travis Williams of Whitesboro, TX; niece Amiee Mancin and husband Craig Mancin of Allen, TX; niece Heather Goff of Allen, TX; step-daughter Amber Hamlin and husband Glynn Hamlin of Hanahan, SC; step-son Brandon Cherry of Hanahan, SC; grandchildren Natalie, Milez and Landon Hamlin; and many other great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
