Christopher Cannady Obituary

Christopher (Cub) Cannady age 60, of Ponca City passed away January 3rd, 2022 after a short battle with Cancer. Chris (Cub) was born September 26th, 1961 in Ponca City, OK the sixth child of Zane L. Cannady and Elizabeth Murray Symon Cannady. He was raised in Ponca City, graduating from Ponca City High School in 1980. Barbara Sue Ailey was the love of his life for the past 29 years. Chris (Cub) worked many different jobs through the years, the most meaningful job to him was for Northern Oklahoma Youth Services. He said he felt he had a purpose and he was a Shepard watching over the kids. Chris also enjoyed his years at the Fox where he made many friends. Chris enjoyed working in his yard. He was told he should share it with the Garden Club, but he said it was for his and Barbara’s enjoyment. Chris was a very artistic and crafty person, in his younger years he would do etched glass windows and mirrors, he also made bows and arrows. His latest passion was his 1964 pushbutton Dodge Dart, like his very first car. He is survived by his lifetime love of 29 years, Barbara Sue Ailey of Ponca City. Barbara’s children Shannon Buesing of Ponca City, Ray Dean Ailey of Stillwater, Noel Cassady (Jeremy) of Ponca City, and Curtis Ailey (Megan) of Ardmore, OK, 11 Grandkids and 16 Great Grandkids, sister-in-laws Shirley Russell and Brenda Weeks Siblings: Susan Adkins (Dennis) of Stillwater, Mitch Cannady of Tonkawa, Karen Kline of Bixby, Keith Cannady of Ponca City, Vicki VanCuren (Monty) of Ponca City and Tina Bose (Mark) of Lake Charles, LA. Many nieces and nephews, his beloved dog Anika and “SH” his cat and many friends. Chris was preceded in death by his parents Zane L. Cannady and Elizabeth Murray Symon Cannady. In lieu of flowers Chris has requested donations be made to Northern Oklahoma Youth Services, 2203 N. Ash St., Ponca City, OK. 74601, or the Ponca City Humane Society. Funeral arrangements are being planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Newpoint Church with Pastor Kyle McGenity and Reverend Zachary Boazman.
