Obituary

Connie Lynn Davis
January 5, 1950 ~ August 4, 2023
Constance Lynn (Lessert) Davis of Ponca City passed away at Stillwater Medical Center
surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 4th after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born January 5th, 1950, to Jay Francis Lessert and Geraldine ‘Jerry’ Hogan Lessert at the Ponca City
Hospital. The tiny blessing was welcomed home by her big brother Chuck. A couple of years later,
little brother Robert joined the family. In the early years the family traveled for her father's job, and
she attended schools in Texas and New Mexico before settling back in Ponca City to graduate
from Po-Hi in 1968. Connie was a spirited and outgoing student cheering on the Wildcats as a
member of The Dynamiters.
Soon after completing high school Connie married her high school sweetheart and became a
mother, her favorite role in life, to Debbie. A short time later her main man Matt came along and
together the trio faced the world together. A little later in life, Connie was thrilled to learn she was
pregnant with twins! It was to be 2 boys and she spent time collecting two of everything in
preparation. Sadly, one of the boys passed in utero but we were all blessed with Scotty, who
became the light of everyone's life.
Connie was a proud member of the Osage and Kaw tribes and built her life and home in the
Osage on her Grandparents' allotted land. The apple of her grandpas eye, she was gifted an acre
and even had a road named after her. Although there is not a sign, the road in front of the ballpark,
City View south of the hwy. 60, is actually named Constance Avenue, she was the only grandchild
of Ray Lessert that had a road named after her.
Always the social butterfly, Connie enjoyed the comradery of her bowling leagues, Weight
Watchers group and spending time with her best friends LeAnn, Patti and Sharon listening to
Country & Western music and dancing the night away. What a glorious heavenly reunion they
must've had that Friday night. Connie also loved spending time outdoors. Owning several
campers and boats over the years. Her favorite place to be was at the lake, sitting around the
campfire with friends and family. Throughout her life Connie was proud of her work as a
companion to the elderly, allowing them to remain at home as long as possible.
In 2004 Connie married the love of her life Rick Davis, building their life and home at 801 E.
Grand and adding his children Danny and Angi to her constantly growing family. Spending time
gardening, landscaping and painting anything she could get her hands on. Together they made a
beautiful home with flowerbeds that turn heads and anyone would be proud to call home.
She enjoyed her grandchildren the most. The light of her life and reasons for living, she fell
immediately in love with every one of them and they all knew her love was infinite. Starting with

Nikki, Dustin and Chance, the gang quickly grew into a dirty dozen with Patrick, Marina, Kylie,
Caleb, Colby, Kaelyn, Liam, Ely, and Bently, Grandma Connie became her favorite title.
Connie is survived by her husband Rick Davis and children Debbie Rateliff, Matt Moriarty, Daniel
Davis and Angi Cales. Grandchildren as listed above along with her bonus grandchildren Aubri,
Charleigh, Sage. Survivors also include her precious sister-in-law Vicki Lessert and nephews Jay,
Keith, Tim and Eric Lessert.
Connie was proceeded in death by an infant son and later his twin Scott Taylor, granddaughter
Abigail Cales, her parents Jay and Jerry Lessert and brothers Chuck and Robert Lessert.
The family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support. In lieu of
flowers please make donations to Ponca City Kids Inc. in her name. There will not be a viewing but
a memorial service has been planned for 2pm on August 19th, 2023 at Osage Heights Baptist
Church in Ponca City with nephew Keith Lessert officiating. That evening at 6 pm we invite
everyone to join the family at the Kaw City cemetery to complete the service  Remembrances may be shared online
