Deborah Kay (Castleberry) Amos

Deborah Kay Amos, affectionately known as Debby, passed away peacefully, on November 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. Born on September 17, 1948, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Hazel Castleberry, Debby was a cherished daughter and sister to Lynda Haney of Sulphur.

Debby was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1961, continuing a family tradition as the third generation of Witnesses. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1966 and soon after married the love of her life, Alvis Amos, on June 29, 1967, and they were blessed with two children: Kevin Todd Amos, and Sabrina Danielle Everidge.

A devoted grandmother, Debby cherished her grandsons, Daniel and Donavan Amos of Tulsa, and her granddaughters, Amanda (Beau) Godwin, Jessie Nikole  (Kenny Courson), Shelby (Devin) Holcomb, and Cassidy  (Justin Halford). Her heart was full with the joy of twelve great-grandchildren: Cameron, Kansas, Karley, Kiyah, Kyleigh, Khloe, Dayton, Dillon, Jackson, Hunter, Kinsley, and Henry.

Debby dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a Home Health aide and later as a server at The Park Assisted Living Center until her retirement in 2006. Her compassion extended to her congregation at Atoka, where she supported her husband in his efforts to bring Choctaw language Bible education to the community.

A resident of Tulsa for 52 years, Debby moved to Atoka in 2019. She found joy in reading her Bible daily, teaching others from the Scriptures, and spending time with her beloved pets. Her love for cooking and dining at Mexican restaurants, especially with her grandsons, was well known.

Debby was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar in 2004 and Hazel in 2009. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

 She is survived by her husband Alvis Amos of Atoka, son Kevin Amos of Atoka, Daughter and Son-in-law Sabrina and Malcolm Everidge of Coalgate. And Her Sister Lynda Haney of Sulphur. A niece and many Nephews and cousins. 

The memorial service will be December 14,2024 at 1:00pm in the  Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness  55 West Liberty Road  Atoka OK
