Dixie Rose Hays was born in Enid Oklahoma to Otis and Mae Van Vranken on June 1, 1943 and passed away on January 21, 2024. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 24,2024 in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Lyle Buller officiating.
In 1960 she met the love of her life and married James E. Hays.
In 1967 their dream had come true and she gave birth to Timothy Hays who would be their only son, whom they loved with all their heart. Her first love was to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Dixie retired from Integris Bass Hospital as a respiratory therapist. She loved her job and helping people.
Dixie not only had her family but she had a church family as well in Family Life Missions.
Dixie loved animals, she often fed the squirrels, birds and any wildlife she could, it gave her great joy to help any living being.
Dixie fought a years long battle with Alzheimer's disease and finally succumbed to that terrible and unfair disease on Sunday.
She is survived by her husband James E. Hays, son Tim Hays and wife Jaime, granddaughter Hannah, and sister Gladys Mae Van Vranken. She had a lifelong friend in Mary Havens who she loved dearly as well. Also, Stephen, Teresa, and Shea Holt.
She was preceded in death by her father Otis Van Vranken, mother Alpha Mae Van Vranken, and sister Carlene Holt.
Dixie really got after her son about having a grandkid for years and then lo and behold on August 12, 2009 her dream was fulfilled when her daughter in law gave birth to a now 14 year old Hannah Mae Hays whom Tim and Jaime Hays were gifted from the Lord God almighty.
Dixie will be greatly missed by all who she came in contact with not withstanding her family and great and dear friends and extended family.
Goodbye Mom I love you and will miss you so much bit I will see you again someday.
In the words of James Hays...Goodbye sweetheart I love you.
