Faye Westfall Obituary

Faye Leslie Keizor Fink Reading Westfall was born on May 8, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and died at Ignite Resort Spa in Oklahoma City on November 16, 2022 at the age of 79 years six months and 7 days. I am sure that most of you are wondering “Why so many names.” Well, I am glad you asked. Faye was born the daughter of Wanda Bernice Young Keizor and C. Y. Fink. At the age of three years, her sister age four, and her brother age two, their mother passed away from tuberculosis after living for a time in the Sanitarium at Talihina, Oklahoma. Soon after the three were adopted by their aunt and uncle Gertrude May and David William Reading on March 27, 1945. On May 4, 1963 Floyd Dale made her a Westfall.

For their wedding music Faye chose the song taken from the story of Ruth, “Wherever Thou Goest, I will Go.” True to our wedding vows she served God along with her preacher husband all over Oklahoma, Alaska, and South Dakota.

Those who have known my Sweet Faye over the years know of her many talents and spiritual gifts. She could sew a dress for herself or others and could do it in a day. However, if she couldn’t finish a dress in a hour, she wouldn’t finish at all. She could cook a complete seven course meal in 30 minutes. She did not really follow all her talents but she was an artist, took violin lessons, and taught primaries in Sunday School for many years. I heard it said when I was a child that “You cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear” but I’ve always said, Faye could. She was a florist and those who knew us when we lived in Enid know she established a very successful used clothing store and there were some who saw her success and tried to do the same thing but did not have the knack for it.

Faye graduated from Choctaw High School in 1961 and played sports. The real story of her athletic ability is the fact that she was a member of the very first basketball team at Choctaw High. They had a perfect record that year, their record was perfect losses. Before we were married she bowled on a bowling team and they were awarded the cellar trophy.

Faye operated a tea room in Fredrick, Oklahoma and her most popular item on the menu was Santa Faye Soup. People would call to see what was on the menu. At times she catered dinners and served her popular chicken breast dish.

In Brookings, South Dakota both of us did arts and crafts to support our mission work. Her artistic ability made it possible.

Together with Floyd, they were blessed with the birth of one daughter and two sons.

Nancy Bernice Patton and her husband Monty Lynn of Peoria, Arizona.
