Gary Neal Martin, 64 years, of Ponca City took his last breath here on earth on January 11, 2026 at his daughter’s home with family, in the care of Agape Hospice.
Gary was born on March 6, 1961 to Joyce Ann Calvert and Bobby Gene Martin in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Gary was a jack of all trades: roofing, truck driving and working as a drillhand. He enjoyed riding Harley Davidsons and had a wild spirit. He was the best story teller and could make a movie on his life’s experiences. In his life he fought hard and loved harder. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Kids would always bring a smile to his face as he was young at heart. Many will remember him for his sense of humor in spite of life’s adversities, the way he would fire up a conversation, make you laugh and give you the shift off his back. He traveled the country throughout his lifetime, making many friends and unforgettable memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Martin and Joyce Calvert; brother and sister in law, Larry and Brenda Martin; Sereta Fortney; step daughter, Rachel Binford and granddaughter, Heaven Goodman.
Gary is survived by his sister, Lynn Martin; brother, Johny Martin; daughter Jennifer Northcutt, granddaughter Aida Dell Colvin, great granddaughter Eleanor Rose Davis: Shannon Jeffries and their children, daughter, Kacie Martin and spouse, Tyler Goodman, grandchildren, Trulser Means, Riven Goodman and LilyAnn Goodman: Robyne Miller and children, Joshua and Zethan Binford and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family would like to honor lifelong friend and caregiver, Neal Goodenough for his love and loyalty during the end of Gary’s life.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday January 17, 2026 at Ponca Indian Baptist Church, 6001 Pleasantview Road, Ponca City, Ok with Pastor Brandon Kemble officiating. Burial will follow at Longwood Cemetery at 11:00 am. Casket Bearers will be Jacob Martin, Tyler Goodman, Richard Bohon, Trusler Means, Bobby Ferrill and Johnny Martin. “The Lord is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident. The one thing I ask of the Lord— the thing I seek most— is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music. Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close. Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I’ve never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence. Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” Psalms 27:1-14 NLT
