On Wednesday, October 1st, Gordon Lee Meadows passed peacefully with family by his side. Gordon was born to Shirley Hicks Meadows and T.D. Meadows on November 3, 1952 in Odessa, Texas. He was the oldest of 8 children, and attended Ponca City schools. At the tender age of 18, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Davis on April 9th, 1971 in Ponca City, where they made their first home. Soon after, the couple travelled across the States with Cindy’s family.
Gordon went into the National Guards in 1973, where he proudly served his country for 6 years. He was also a member of the 82nd Airborne, served as a Field Medic, and a Staff Sergeant. Later in life he worked as a Safety and Security Manager, and a eventually a Sheriff’s Deputy.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughter Christie Gordon, and husband Chad, son Michael Meadows, and wife Linda, grandchildren Bethanie Finholm, and husband Tom, Kailey White and husband Kal, Jillian Gordon, and Thatcher Meadows, and a great granddaughter Emilia White. He is also survived by siblings, Debby Fleharty, Randy Meadows and wife Teresa, Pam Luis, and Tammy Rogers and husband Tony, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Meadows, his father, T.D. Meadows, his brother, Rick Meadows, and sisters, Sandy Elam and Jodi Meadows.
Gordon had many hobbies, most notably, fishing, woodworking, fishing, working on motorcycles, fishing, spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, fishing, watching old westerns and war movies, playing the guitar and drums, and was known to cast a line, if given half a chance. He may have had a fiesty side, but was as tender hearted as they come. He will always be known affectionately by those who knew him as “Gordy, Bub, Pop, or Poppy” and we will be forever blessed to have had him in our lives.
