Gorlyn Glen Harryman, 83, of Ponca City, OK, was called home to be with the Lord on May 7, 2026.
A graveside service will be held at the Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City on May 12 2026, at 1:30 pm under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Gorlyn was born May 3, 1943, in Beaver, Oklahoma, to Glen and Marciel Harryman and grew up in the Oklahoma Panhandle. He learned the value of hard work starting at eight years of age when he began working at his father’s gas station washing windows, checking tires, and pumping gasoline. He continued working daily in the family business throughout his high school years, balancing school and long hours of football practice with the Beaver Dusters, winning two State Championships.
Gorlyn graduated from Beaver High School in 1961 and attended Independence Community College on a football scholarship before graduating from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in 1967 where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree. He also enlisted in the Army Reserves serving 7 years at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Immediately following college Gorlyn began his career in Ponca City with Conoco Oil Company where he dedicated 33 years of service before retiring from ConocoPhillips in 2001.
Gorlyn and Paula were married in 1976 and together they shared 50 years of traveling with family and friends, and devotion to his cherished faith in God that included serving as a Director and President of the local Full Gospel Men's Fellowship.
Gorlyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in his yard, helping his children with carpentry and remodeling projects and was always available to spend time with grandkids and attending their numerous sporting events. He was known for his selfless nature and willingness to help wherever he was needed, never hesitating to lend a hand.
He was a proud and loving father to his children: Cinnamon, Michael , and Kimberlyn and grandchildren Joshua Thornburgh (KerithAnn), Savannah Thornburgh, Autumn Medina (Marco), River Morris, Lily Morris, Journey Morris, Anderson Bivins, and Kenzington Bivins.
Gorlyn was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Louise Harryman, Marciel and Earl Strong; sisters, Glenna Jean Leason, Darlene Smith; and step brother, Milton Judd.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Harryman; his children Cinnamon Wheeler and husband Scott; Timothy Michael Morris; Kimberlyn Bivins and husband Scott, 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandson, sister Raedene Hughes, step brother Gilbert Judd, nieces, nephews and loyal grand dog Mater.
