Harry Wolf Obituary

Harry “Butch” Duane Wolf resident of Newkirk, Oklahoma passed away on March 25, 2022.

Butch was born on May 4, 1939 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Bill & Viola (Meier) Wolf. He went to Guy School in Clinton, Oklahoma & moved to Newkirk at the age of 14 where he graduated with the Class of 1957. He then attended Okmulgee Tech-Refrigeration & A/C then served in the US Army Reserve from 1961 – 1967. Butch married Marva Jo Perez on July 14, 1962 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Newkirk. He began working at the Moneka Farm Store in Newkirk. Continued with Farmers Coop, Blackwell – Braman Coop, as Braman Branch Manager, and later returned back to Newkirk Coop as manager where he retired in 2001.

Butch was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church. He was on the parish board, a lector, communion minister & a church Sacristan. Honors include: The Newkirk Lions Club: Lion of the year 1977 – 1978. Lions Club Zone chairman 1982 – 1983 and President 2004 – 2008. “Mr. Newkirk” 2004 and President of the Newkirk Chamber of Commerce. Newkirk Citizen of the Year 2006. He was the first individual to place the American Flags down main street for every Federal Holiday and events. He was very involved in Charlie Adams Day as well as past member of the Moose and Elks Lodge. Butch was an active member of the American Legion of Braman Post #0259.

Butch enjoyed going to the following in his free time: Visiting Herman, MO for the Wine and Sausage Festival. The Annual Bob Wills Day in Turkey, TX. Branson & Silver Dollar City. Dancing to Les Gilliam and the Silver Lake Band. His favorite past time was making homebrew and wine and working in the garden. His greatest passion was family vacations, supporting and spending time with his “FAVORITE” granddaughters!

He is survived by his wife Jody of 59 years. Two daughters and son-in-law’s, Gwen and Bob Scott, Gay and Bill Wetzel. Granddaughters, Laci Jo and husband Cody, Allison and Fiancé Curtis, Amber Don and husband Connor, Shalee and husband Haskell. Butch leaves behind many other cherished family members and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation is under the direction of Stittsworth Funeral Home in Enid. No public service will be held. A private service will be held at a later date.

At Butch’s request you should visit someone in need, offer a word of encouragement, and a helping hand.
