Johnny Jack Obituary

 

Johnny Carrol Jack of Blackwell, Ok, went into the arms of Jesus peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in St. Frances Hospital in Wichita, KS.

 

Johnny was born in Atoka, Ok on September 1, 1946, to John L. and Allie Bell (Blankenship) Jack.  He grew up on “scratch hill” with many siblings and  cousins and attended Atoka Public Schools and graduated in 1966.  He entered the Air Force in the summer of 1966.  Johnny did his basic training at Lackland Air Force, San Antonio, Texas.  During his service time, he served at Dover AFB, Dover, Delaware, McConnell AFB, Wichita, KS. and Takhli Royal Tahi Air Force Base, Takhi, Thailand during the Vietnam era.  While in the service, he was part of the 23d Tactical Fighter Wing and worked as a jet engine mechanic.   

 

While he was stationed in Dover, Delaware, he met the love of his life Nellie Barnett.  They were married on February 7, 1970 in Three Springs, PA.  They had 4 children, Jennifer, Josh, Morgan and JC.  John was a proud papa and great grandpapa, he cherished every moment he spent with them. A true jack of all trades, John held many roles throughout his life. He worked as a surgical decoder, a police officer, owned both a car lot, and furniture store, and later took great pride in his work at LTV, where he was assigned as an inspector on the B-2 Stealth Bomber project.

 

John devoted his life to ministry. For more than 53 years, he faithfully served as a pastor in several churches, ultimately making House of Prayer his beloved home church for over 30 years. His dedication to sharing his faith touched countless lives and left a lasting legacy in every community he served. Outside of work and ministry, John had a passion for building and restoring vehicles. He loved spending time in the garage, working on cars like a 54 oldsmobile, 1919 Maxwell, Model A’s, Models T’s, just to name a few. He never turned away a helping hand,enjoying the company from family and friends, John would share stories, and pass his wisdom of car facts along. John also enjoyed attending swap meets, often loading up “his boys” and spending the day exploring, sharing his knowledge and creating memories.  

 

Johnny is survived by his wife Nellie of the home, Jennifer and Drew Broadwater, Owasso, OK, Morgan and Mark Beard, Blackwell, OK, and JC and Sarah Jack, Blackwell, OK.  Johnny has 5 grandchildren, Dalton and Edith of Jonesboro, AK, Allyann and Lundyn (Boogie) of Blackwell, Dallas, Julian and Declan, and 1 great grandson, Jaxtyn.  He is also survived by 1 sister, Elsie Brown of Stillwater, OK, and a host of nieces and nephews. John is preceded in death  by his son Joshua, Parents John L. and Allie Bell (Blankenship) Jack, Brothers Leander,A.J. and Jessie Jack, and sister Margie Reeves, Louella Rushin, Juanita Maxy and Opal French.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Sept.18th at the House of Prayer in Blackwell Ok, with Rev. Gene Johns officiating. John’s final resting place will be Mount Olive Cemetery in Stringtown Ok.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr Christopher Dakhil - Cancer Center of Wellington Kansas,  Robert J Dole- VA Medical Center, St Francis Ascension Via Christi, and  House of Prayer Church family and Friends who have called,visited, made meals and prayed.
