Kenneth Strever Obituary

Kenneth Laverne Strever
Born January 14, 1935 to Raymond and Thelma Strever as the youngest of 4 children.
Died February 25, 2026 in Enid, Ok with his wife and eldest daughter by his side.
Kenneth was born and raised in Lexington, NE as a farm boy and budding mechanic. As a
teenager, he became a Christian and decided that he wanted to become a preacher. He
graduated from Lexington High School and then attended Midwestern School of Evangelism
where he earned a degree in Theology.
Ken married Norita Johnson on July 19, 1956 and they resided in the Kansas City, Mo area
where he ministered to several churches and fathered two children. Ken and Norita moved to
Topeka, Ks in the early 60’s and Ken worked for the railroad and helped preach in a local
Church of Christ. They had their third child while in Topeka. Ken and family made Enid, OK their
home in approximately 1967 where Ken served as an evangelist and worked as a welder. Over
the years, he preached for many camps and rallies, and lived in Ridgeley, WVa in 1973 and
1974 while he was a minister there. Ken and Norita also lived for a short time in Mooreland, OK
and Stillwater, OK as he served as an evangelist and preacher in those places.
After retirement, Ken continued to travel to various churches to encourage the christians and
help seek and save the lost. He also taught college level Bible classes to young men that were
interested in ministry and led adult classes at North Enid Church of Christ. Ken and Norita
began faithfully attending Garriott Road Church of Christ in approx 2017. Ken loved studying the
Word of God and was working on writing his own translation of certain books of the Bible before
poor eyesight and dementia stole his ability. He also enjoyed working with wood and made
numerous bookshelves, boxes, quilt racks, cradles, etcetera for family and friends.
Ken began to show signs of dementia in his early 80’s and had to be moved to a care home in
2023 where he resided until his death at 91 years of age.
