Larry Williams Obituary

Larry Williams

Waukomis, OK · Age 87

Larry Williams, 87, of Waukomis, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born on February 12, 1938, in Bismarck, Illinois. Larry was the son of the late William and Vina Williams. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen (Landwehr) Williams; his brother, Austin Williams; and his sisters, Joann Salazar and Betty Alexander.

Larry’s lifelong passion for aviation began early—he started working at the local airport at age 15 and earned his pilot’s license at just 16. At 17, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma. It was there that he met the love of his life, Karen. They married in 1958 and shared a lifetime of love and adventure. His service also took him to France, Germany, and California.

After his service, Larry pursued a career in aviation maintenance, working for Braniff Airlines and Texas Airlines before joining Southwest Airlines in its early days. Over 35 years, he witnessed the airline's growth and earned numerous accolades.

A true MacGyver, Larry could fix or build anything. He enjoyed flying his own small aircraft, riding motorcycles, gardening, and spending time with his pup, Roxie. He and Karen shared a love for travel, exploring 49 states together on their motorcycle.

Larry will be fondly remembered by the many people he impacted throughout his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Williamson; son-in-law, Chris; and granddaughter, Robyn, all of Waukomis.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Peggy Harvey and her family for their extraordinary care, compassion and friendship to both Larry and

Karen. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

The family will honor Larry’s life in a private gathering

Memorial contributions may be made to Waukomis Cemetery at PO Box 201, Waukomis OK 73773
