On October 19, 1938, a beautiful child was born to LeRoy Carnes, Sr. and Benda Smith Carnes. With his big eyes, and great smile, they had to name him Jr. Jr. attended grade school and Jr. High in Watonga, Oklahoma, leaving school to work on the family farm. Can you believe it, LeRoy married Bernice Phillips in Wichita, Kansas, and to this union, ten children were born. After working many years in Kansas, they made their final home in Ponca City. His many years of labor included truck driving, Conoco, and the Plaza, but if you knew LeRoy, his first love was mechanic which he did for 44 years at Bowker Ford and Behon. Every story must come to and end. After a hard fight with health issues and cancer, God took his hand, and said “Come rest my good and faithful servant” on January 1st at 12:20 am. Looking forward to seeing you again, his daughters” Gail, Lisa (William), Clara (Curtis), Elaine (Jessie), Cecella; his sons, Danny (Michell), David (Marsha), Johnnie (Deana), and sister-in-law, LaVay Carnes; brother and best friend, Louis (Lew) Payne; sisters, Oweeta, Christine, Eltha; twenty-six grandchildren, forty-seven great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He’s now visiting with both parents, loving wife, one brother, Charles, two sons, Mike and Dale, and three grandsons, Trevell, Curtis, Jr. and Gabriel. The family would like to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and kind words. Please continue to pray for us. Homegoing services will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Faith Tabernacle with Pastor Jack Adams officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the I.O.O.F.
