Lillian Unruh Obituary

She asked “Jesus take me home”...and so he did. Mom was released from her pain in the early morning hours of Thursday May 28th, 2026. Lillian Unruh was born on October 16th, 1937 to William Francis and Velva Ada (Walker) Black in the small rural town of Cloud Chief in Washita County, Oklahoma. She married Melvin Unruh on the 23rd of August, 1958 in Alden, Oklahoma. Together they raised and moved our family a hand full of times, wherever Dad's employment took us. She was a wonderful seamstress making a lot of our school clothes over the years. After we had grown, she worked in several stores doing alterations and even upholstery until her eyes and arthritis would no longer let her. She loved cooking and always made more than was needed. She also enjoyed making every one of our yards beautiful with a wide variety of flowers and bushes. Reading her bible, working on her Soduka and watching Wheel of Fortune were also things she really enjoyed. We will remember our mother as a strong, stubborn, spiritual person with a lot of love to give.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents William Francis and Velva Ada Black; her husband Melvin of sixty-two years; one son Lyle Dean; three brothers Eston, Junior and Lavern and by four sisters Mary Lois, Cathrine (Cathern), Rosalee and Iona (Noni).

She is survived by three daughters all of Enid; Sonja (Kevin) Eck, Connie (Michael) Estes and Andrea (Norman) Kent; daughter-in-law Tommi Cobb of Arkansas; grandsons Cody(Hailie) Unruh and Nicholas (Burgundi) Unruh; three great grandsons Cameron, Benjamin, and Lyle, and one great granddaughter Addison all of Arkansas; also one sister Myrtle Dyer of Texas and several nieces and nephews.
