Robert Louis Martin

Robert Louis Martin, born April 12, 1952 passed away peacefully on Sunday November 16. He is survived by his son Chris and Chris' wife Kali and grandchildren Avery and Paisley. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy, mother Carmel, father Alonzo, and brother Donnie.
Robert was born in Louisvill, KY and moved to Belleville, Il at a young age. His family then moved to Richmond, VA when he was in middle school where he later attended Virginia Commonwealth University and studied Administration of Justice and Public Safety. In 1974 Robert joined the army and was stationed in Goppingen, Germany where he met and married his wife Patsy. He was an MP and she worked as the secretary to the lieutenant. They were both discharged in 1977.
After their service ended they returned to the states living in Belleville where he would work as a truck driver for a year or 2 before settling in Ponca City where his wife was born and they would raise their son Chris. Robert joined the Ponca City Police Dept and served for almost 30 years before retiring as a Detective Sargent. After retiring he would work security for OGNE and  as an Employment Service Coordinator at Bridgeway for a short time. In retirement he and his wife enjoyed making g frequent trips to Branson to watch the shows and making monthly trips to Wichita to visit their son until Patsy passed. After that Chris would make weekly visits to Ponca for a few years to take care of his dad and take him to lunch. Robert moved to assisted living in Wichita, KS in June of this year to be closer to his son, where he spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals due to many health complications. He joined his wife Patsy on Sunday morning November 16, 2025
