Obituary

Ronald Wayne Bray lost his battle with cancer and received his long awaited miracle in going to be with his Jesus on Thursday October 8, 2020. At 5pm, at his home surrounded by love ones, God called him home and relieved his suffering at the age of 69 years 1 month and 13 days.

On August 25, 1951, Thomas Alvie and Cecil Montrilla Pendergraft Bray rejoiced in the birth of their six child, Ronald, who was born in the one room log cabin, built by his loving parents, in McDonald County Missouri near Jacket Missouri.

The family moved to Blackwell on December 25, 1951 when Ronald was just four months old. Ronald started to school at Washington Elementary and completed his education at Blackwell High School.

Blackwell would remain Ronald’s home for the remainder of his life. His first job was at Acme Foundry in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Throughout the years, he held several jobs in various occupations, retiring from Glass Trucking in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

In 1970 he was united in marriage to Sharlett Maupin. They would be blessed with his only child, a beautiful daughter, his pride and joy, Latrina Dawn.

On January 26, 2007 Ronald married Marie Moore in Miami, Oklahoma and they continued to make their home in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Ronald’s strong faith was everything to him. He so loved his God and believed strongly in prayer. He was a long-time devoted member of The Blackwell Tabernacle Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Survivors are his wife Marie of the home. One daughter Latrina Fruit and husband Mike of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Two stepsons Casey Moore of Edmond, Oklahoma and Jason Moore of Newton, Kansas. One granddaughter Kandyce Lamon and husband Jacob of Edmond, Oklahoma. Two Great Grandchildren Zachary and Olivia Lamon of Edmond, Oklahoma. Three sisters: Bonnie Buxton-Gingerich of Newton, Kansas; Wanda Beck and husband Jim of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and Cleta Skaggs and husband Gary of Ponca City, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Waiting at the gates of Heaven to welcome their Ronald home were his parents, a brother Arlie Bray; two sisters Mildred Wilson-Smith and Eva Rancier; four brother-in-laws: Robert Wilson, Norman Buxton, Marvin Rancier, and Willard Smith; one sister-in-law Patsy Price Bray; four nephews Arlie Bray Jr, Jimmy Lee Beck, Adam Skaggs and Robert Wilson Sr. along with his second wife Carla Pitts.

Due to COVID-19, the family has opted for an open-air graveside service to celebrate Ronald’s life and to say their goodbyes. Masks are encouraged but not mandatory. Service will be at 2pm on Friday October 16, 2020 at the Blackwell Cemetery with Pastor Robert Johnson and Pastor Cliff Johnson, both of The Blackwell Tabernacle Church, officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Services of Enid, Oklahoma. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.com
