Funeral services for Rosalyn Smith, 90, Medford resident, will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:00 am in the Medford United Methodist Church with Pastor Russell Tennant officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Rosemound Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Stittsworth Funeral Service, Medford. Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stittsworth’s (Medford).
Rosalyn was born on December 14, 1927 in Sentinel, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cyril and Delia Hallum Yates, and passed away suddenly on September 23, 2018 in Wakita. She was raised and educated in Sentinel, graduating from Sentinel High School with the class of 1945. Rosalyn attended a women’s college in Chickasha for a short while. On January 15, 1949, she married Claud Smith in Clinton, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma City for a short time, later moving to Sentinel where they worked for First National Bank. In 1963, they moved to Tuttle, Oklahoma, later moving to Oklahoma City. In 1965, they moved to Medford, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Medford United Methodist Church where she was the pianist and organist. Rosalyn was also a member of PEO. Survivors include sons, Greg (Connie) Smith of Medford, and Ron Smith of Medford; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma and Austin Smtih of Medford; sister-in-law, Betty (Bill) Martin of Weleetka, Oklahoma. Rosalyn was preceded in passing by her parents and husband, Claud. The family has suggested memorial donations be made payable to either the Medford Methodist Church, Community Health Center in Wakita or SPCA with Stittsworth’s coordinating.
