The family of Sherri Lynn Tapp is heartbroken to announce that she
passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at home surrounded by loved
ones. She fought a very hard battle with breast cancer during the past
year. During that time, she maintained her kindness, grace, her love of
family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life full of wonderful
experiences. Her strong personality and smiling face will be missed by
those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, October
23rd in the auditorium of the Carolyn Renfro Center, 445 Fairview in Ponca
City, Oklahoma.
Sherri was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on August 29, 1954, to
Lew and Mary Helen (Hoogendoorn) Bloxsom. She grew up with two
younger siblings, a brother Randy Bloxsom and sister, Robbi Webb. She
attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated in 1972 from Ponca
City High School.
Sherri’s career included many jobs over the years. She worked for
Weldex, the Kay County District Attorney’s Office and was the office
manager for the Ponca City Utility Authority and Municipal Court. She
retired from the City of Ponca City in 2021.
On March 24, 1988, she married the love of her life, Mike Tapp.
Together they blended their families creating a lifetime filled with love,
laughter and countless cherished memories. Sherri’s greatest love was her
family.
She leaves behind her devoted husband Michael Lee Tapp, daughter
Tara Cartwright and husband Heath, son Jody Tapp and wife Brandie, son
Scott Ferguson and wife Crystal, daughter Kristal Hilton and partner Hugo
Robles, and son James Tapp and wife Kristen.
Sherri was a proud Grandmother of 13 grandchildren: Tristan Evans,
Lucas Cartwright and fiance Trinity, Landon Cartwright and wife Kiley,
Drake Tapp, Gavin Anderson, Rayce Ferguson, McKenna Tapp, Camryn
Cartwright, Dax Iraggi, Pyper Ferguson, Cale Cartwright, Payton Tapp and
Grayson Tapp. She also had three great-grandsons that she loved dearly:
Wells Devlin, and Ian and Carson Cartwright. She is also survived by her
brother, Randy Bloxsom and sister, Robbi Webb, along with numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents Lew and Helen
Bloxsom, her mother-in-law Charlene Tapp, father-in-law Virgil Tapp, and
brother-in-law Thomas Webb.
Sherri loved serving her community over the years by representing
the Leadership Class of Ponca City. She was the Chairman of the
Octoberfest Committee for many years, and served on the board of the
Cherokee Strip Credit Union.
Sherri’s heart was as big as her smile. She had a gift for making
everyone feel welcome, whether through her warm hugs, her laughter, or
the countless family gatherings she made special. She loved spending
time with her family-especially her grandchildren-who were the light of her
life.
Those who knew Sherri will remember her unwavering kindness, her
strength through life’s challenges, and the joy she found in simple
moments: a good conversation, a shared meal, or a quiet evening
surrounded by loved ones.
