Longtime resident of Ponca City, Steven Dale Stark II left this life Sunday August 13, 2023 at Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City after a short, but courageous battle with Cancer.
Steve was born April 29, 1971 to Cathy Hicks (Stark) and Steven Dale Stark in Winfield, KS. After the loss of his father, Steve lived multiple places until he found permanent residence with his mother and siblings in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Steve graduated from Blackwell High School in 1988 with both a diploma and as an ASE Certified Mechanic.
In 1989, Steve met the love his life, Phillian Peace. To their union she brought 2 little girls, Shealyn and Amanda. A few short years later, in 1993 their son Steven Dale Stark III was born. Unfortunately Steve lost Phillian unexpectedly in 2002 at the age of 29.
Steve was a mechanic by trade that thoroughly enjoyed his line of work. He was always tinkering with cars and working on his side projects. He was even dubbed “Steve the Mechanic” He was employed various places in his career but notably- he worked at CarDoc in Ponca City in the 1990s Co-Owned Pioneer Clean Fuels, he also worked for Sentinel Transportation for many years before finding his work “home” at Moyer Car Care in Ponca City.
Steve was a family man who adored his children, grand children, nieces, nephews and the multitude of adopted children that just referred to him as “pops.” Steve and Phillian always had a house full of kids that they hosted- parties, game nights, karaoke, you name it. Steve’s love for being a provider and safe space for any kid was continued in Phillian’s death. Steve was an avid OU football fan, he loved nascar, listening to music, cruising the back roads with his son, Steven- his adopted “sons “ via steven and his nephew, Michael. Steve also loved to cook on the grill and smoker. Steve was a quiet and fun man who generally loved life.
