Verneta Jean (Unruh) Carver, age 88, of Enid, OK passed away January 16, 2026. She was born in Meno on October 31, 1937, to Ray and Ada (Buller) Unruh. Raised on the farm with sister Jalene and brothers Olin and Rex, Verneta attended school in Meno and graduated from Ringwood High School with the Class of 1955.
After attending business college in Enid, she married Benny Joe Carver on April 13, 1957. Ben preceded her in death in 2003.
A strong believer in Jesus, Verneta placed her faith in Him in the early 1970s. Her faith guided every aspect of her life. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Enid, where she faithfully taught Ladies Sunday School for more than 20 years and played the piano at First Baptist Church of Lahoma.
Verneta devoted her life to raising her four sons and maintaining a loving home, always known for her immaculate house and well kept yard. She spent many years as a successful Home Interiors Designer, where her creativity and dedication were evident.
She enjoyed bowling, bridge, and playing golf. Above all, she cherished time with her family. Verneta always had the energy to celebrate and loved good food and lots of laughter. She never missed Friday movie nights with her nieces, celebrating family birthdays, cooking weekly dinner for her son or spending time with her sister during morning coffee and Sonic happy hour.
Verneta is survived by her sister and best friend, Jalene Patton of Enid, and brother Rex and wife Patricia of Edmond; sons Kendall Carver of Enid, Mitch Carver of WIley, TX, Darren Carver and wife Patti of Tulsa, and Dion Carver and wife Amy of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Laney Stanley and husband Kameron of Denver, Tucker Carver and fiancee Sarah Lawrence, Davis Carver and wife Madison who is expecting the first great-grandchild, Grant Carver and Chloe Carver, all of McKinney, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and their families; friends, and Sunday School class members.
The family will deeply miss her love of life and faithful example but rejoice in the assurance that she is now in the presence of the Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 in the First Baptist Church. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.
