Gerald A David, one of Howard David and Eunice Dyche David's six children, was born November 18, 1946 and was relived of his earthly burdens on May 10th, 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lester David and one sister, Eunice David Coleman and will be greatly missed by his surviving brothers Leon David, Milt David and his sister Rita David Lavicky.. A graduate of Carmen High School, he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he worked towards a degree in Political Science.
Drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam, he served as a Drill Sargeant or 'Drill Daddy' at Fort Polk, LA.  After leaving the Army he continued to serve, first in a twenty-eight year career as an Enid Police Officer and later in life, spent fifteen years with Oklahoma Correctional Industries. Throughout his life, Gerald was an avid hunter, fisherman and gun enthusiast. 
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Susan David and proud father of three; Mechelle Meyer, Lance David and Susan Swank.  Gerald was also a doting 'Pawpaw' to three; Melanie Schluns, Steven Meyer and Kaitlynn Swank as well as a Great-grandfather of Liliana Schluns and her soon to be born little brother. Celebration of life services will be held on Thursday,   May 18, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stittsworth Memory Chapel with Enid Police Department Chaplain, Sergeant Aaron Barber officiating.    Enid Police Department Color Guard will give honors.
