Leo Gene Shook, longtime Ponca City resident, died Sunday evening, Nov. 12, 2017, at his home. He was 75. Leo was born on Oct. 2, 1942, in Ponca City, the son of Leo D. Shook and Virginia (Hunt) Shook. He grew up in Kaw City and attended both Kaw City and Ponca City Public Schools. Following his education, he held various odd jobs in Ponca City before beginning his career at the Conoco refinery, where he ultimately retired from. Leo enjoyed music and cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners. His greatest joy came from playing and listening to music. He is survived by his four sons: Scott Shook and wife Cherry of Elkhorn, Neb., Terry Shook and wife Chrissie of Ponca City, Chris Shook of Arkansas and Ben Shook of Arkansas; sister Fontella McAdams of Tonkawa; brother Jim Shook and wife Suzanne of Duncanville, Texas; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; a sister, Vickie Main; a son, Keith Allen; and several aunts and uncles. An informal memorial service is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Tabernacle with Don Stanton officiating.
